On Thursday 27th April, 2023 the LIFE PanPuffinus! project featured once again on BirdLife Malta’s NET TV programme NATURAlment. This time the problem of accidental seabird bycatch was discussed. The guests who participated in the programme led by Nathaniel Attard were Project Manager Manya Russo and Andrew Sciberras from the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Malta) who are partners in the project. The discussion focused on what happens when seabirds are accidentally trapped by fishing nets during fishing for a different species. The guests also mentioned the work that is being carried out with fishers to increase awareness about this and to find common solutions. Watch the full programme here (go to the second part)!
