The Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture from Malta (DFA) within the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights is responsible for managing fisheries in Maltese waters.
Judy Cassar
Economics Officer
Judy is an Economics Officer within the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (DFA).
She joined the Fisheries Research Unit within the DFA in 2020. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Enterprise. She mainly works on EU-funded projects and schemes.
She works on the financial and administrative activities of the LIFE PanPuffinus! project for the DFA.

Daryl Agius
Scientific Officer
Daryl has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry and furthered his studies with a Master’s in Marine Biology from the University of Malta.
He currently works as a Scientific Officer within the Fisheries Research Unit at the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture following years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
An underwater enthusiast, Daryl has years of experience with diving and underwater photography.

Michael Albanozzo
Principal Scientific Officer
Michael forms part of the Biological Team at the Fisheries Research Unit within the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture and has been involved in several EU-funded projects.
He has a Bachelor’s degree in Agro-Ecosystems Management and a Master’s degree in Rural and Environmental Sciences.
Michael is a keen sailor with a great passion for the marine environment and from a young age has also shown a profound interest in ornithology.
