BirdLife Malta’s LIFE PanPuffinus! team joined members of the BirdLife network from Europe and Central Asia. The group gathered to discuss key marine issues, including sustainable fisheries, marine protected areas and invasive species threatening seabirds.
Manya Russo and Justine Borg represented BirdLife Malta, sharing insights from the LIFE PanPuffinus! project’s work in Malta. The project featured in several sessions, with a focus on reducing seabird bycatch through innovative and practical mitigation measures. These discussions provided valuable direction as the project moves forward with its conservation goals for vulnerable seabird species.
The team also used the opportunity to connect with other LIFE projects and build stronger partnerships for regional collaboration. This event highlighted the importance of working together to protect marine biodiversity and safeguard seabirds across Europe and beyond.
