BirdLife Malta’s LIFE PanPuffinus! project has been spotlighted in EU Researcher, a magazine reaching millions across Europe.
The article, written by project manager Manya Russo, introduces the project’s goals and its impact on seabird conservation in Malta.
It highlights the urgent need to address seabird bycatch—when seabirds are accidentally caught in fishing gear—and reduce its impacts.
Russo stresses that while significant progress has been made, more research is needed to close knowledge gaps on this complex issue.
The article also outlines the need for stronger policy to support conservation efforts and ensure lasting protection for vulnerable seabird species.
The LIFE PanPuffinus! team continues to work with stakeholders, including fishers and policymakers, to find practical solutions to reduce bycatch.
